Glow On || Highlighters to Know…NOW

I’ve been really lacking in the health department lately, and I’ve got the dark under-eyes, bloat, and laggy behavior to show for it. But what I don’t have to show for it is the lackluster skin all thanks to the myriad of dazzling highlighters heaped in my makeup drawer. If I don’t have to go on a one-month yoga retreat and juice cleanse to cheat my way to glowing skin, then trust me, I’ll still be binging on pizza and noodles so God bless highlighters.

So while I don’t recommend surrendering your (somewhat) healthy habits to the world of fat asses, I do recommend snagging a few highlighters to compensate for the lack of healthy eating until you gain your self-control back. If you are eating healthy and working out, go you! So highlighters might not be completely necessary but if you’re looking for a glow that looks like a beam of glorious light shining down on you from heaven, a little help always…helps.

MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in “Soft and Gentle”

All hail the holy grail of highlighters, MAC “Soft and Gentle!” Everyone and their ancestors knows about this highlighter and there really isn’t a reason they shouldn’t. From the most popular Youtubers to the most coveted makeup artists, this highlighter is literally the holy grail glow enhancer. It’s a perfect champagne-y shimmer that works for any skin tone, so not only is it universally flattering, but it’s also universally loved.

MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in “Cheeky Bronze”

“Cheeky Bronze” is a MAC MSF that’s a little less popular but nonetheless, a well worn and loved one. Unlike “Soft and Gentle”, it has a bit more of a warm and pinky sheen that looks like liquid rose gold melted on your cheekbones in the best way possible. It’s also a bit more subtle than S&G so it’s a great 2 in 1 product for both rosy cheeks but a bomb-a$$ highlight.

Glossier Haloscope in “Topaz”

In addition to my lack of healthy eating and overall living, I’ve also not seen the sun in what seems like ages. So let me reintroduce myself: Hi, I’m Brenda but you can call me Pale & Pasty. But with this highlighter, I can add both a warm and sun-kissed glow to my skin and a nice and natural bronze that looks far from fake. It’s also in a stick form so consider your application already done for you, it contains an oil core in the middle for maximum dew, AND, the actual highlight is made of the most finely grinded topaz crystals — talk about good luck! Consider this more of a radiant lit-from-within glow, rather than a shimmer.

KIKO Radiant Touch in “01”

In the stick it looks like some 1995 Hello Kitty sorcery but applied, it’s totally unexpected yet totally luminous and beautiful. The glow is both pearlescent and baby pink and the shimmers are so finely milled you can’t detect the fact that you’re even wearing highlighter. Rather, a chorus of angels are beaming a godly light on every cheekbone, nose, and cupids bow, as we all strive for anyways. It’s also in a stick form which creates a creamy blend on the skin so you can literally go: bam, bam, bam, and hit all the points on your face and blend with your fingers, and go!

I mean…relatable.
